TransAtlanticWay 2019 - Fourth Preparation Ride - Lon-Ox-Cam-Lon

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

The next training ride consisted of a 1-day ride where we planned to break the 300km barrier in a single day, the distance we were aiming for every day on the TAW, by riding from London to Oxford, to Cambridge, and then back to London. It all started off well and despite some cassette issues on Jack’s bike and a brief detour into High Wycombe, we managed to make it to Oxford for lunch, where Jack relived the glory days of his college years, before pushing onto Cambridge. We were both nursing our knees and playing it by ear about abandoning if they got too sore. I pulled the plugged outside of Cambridge and got a train back from Sandy, getting to 200km. Jack managed to push onto Cambridge before calling it a day. So, we didn’t really gain any understanding from this ride, just a somewhat big day out on the bike.

Oxford and proud!
Enjoying a lunch break in Oxford!
A perfect day for it
